Financial Advisor FAQ
Advisor Communication Involvement Guide
Info helps you to create a clean and easy-to-maintain knowledge base for your products or services. Here's a quick overview.
At Jalada, we want the clients to see you as their financial advisor. We are careful to ensure that we support your services to the benefit of your client, while also helping to strengthen their relationship with you. This guide is designed to explain how the Jalada tax process integrates with you, the Financial Advisor, what to expect at each stage, and how communication is handled. It outlines expectations between you and Jalada.
Communication Channels
To keep everything clear and seamless, we use multiple communication channels:
Slack – For best response time between you and the Jalada team.
Shared Dashboard – You will have access to a dashboard showing client tax status and next steps accessible through Slack.
CC on Communications – Our team CC’s you on client-facing emails so you’re always in the loop.
Direct Client Support – Clients can reach Jalada directly at support@jalada.io for assistance.
As a general rule, Jalada will handle all client support for the tax return, while communicating to the advisor what has been discussed. Advisors can also provide support as desired by messaging us via slack, or viewing tax return status through the dashboard.
Onboarding
In this phase Jalada will:
Collects client identification.
Sends the engagement letter.
Introduces our client portal.
Sends a tax organizer if the season has started.
Bills advisor or client depending on selection.
Your role is to:
Schedule the clients onboarding.
Discuss pricing with your client in advance (if client pay).
Attend the onboarding meeting if desired.
Document Collection
In this phase Jalada will:
Collect and verify tax documents.
Track missing Items.
Notifies client of missing items.
While we are able to do all of this work without your involvement, you may choose to help by:
Assist in providing retirement tax documents.
Assist the client in filling out the organizer.
Share any relevant details on the clients tax situation large sales, charitable gifting, etc.
Tax Return Preparation and Draft Return
In this phase Jalada will:
Input all client data into the return.
Verify client data.
Apply deductions and credits.
Generate the first draft of the tax return
Typically advisors may help in this phase by being available for our team to ask questions about a client’s financial events such as Roth conversions, context around business income, or other financial events.
Multi Review Process
In this phase Jalada will:
Have an initial review of the tax return by another professional.
Have a secondary final review of the tax return by a third professional.
The final reviewer will record a video explanation that will go to you and your clients.
The video explanation will cover their 1040, a prior year comparison, and any notes or things the client should know about their tax return.
Advisors will often want to review the tax return before the client. If this is the case for you please let us know. Otherwise you will be able to review the tax return at the same time as the client with our video walkthrough. Jalada will communicate through email the readiness of the tax return. It is delivered via Docusign.
Filing and Archiving
In this phase Jalada will:
Send the tax return to the client to sign.
File the tax return no more than three days after signature is received.
Note: the taxes will be paid, or a refund will be requested if the client selected to pay or receive a refund via ACH. If the client opted to pay by check instructions are on the tax return.
Advisors can help their clients by understanding the format of our tax returns. And point them towards the appropriate filing location if the client is confused on how to pay.
Co-Branding and Compliance
To meet compliance standards, the service is co-branded between Jalada and the advisor firm. This ensures clients see a unified approach, maintaining transparency and professionalism. It is not a referral relationship; it is a collaborative service delivery model designed to protect compliance for all parties while delivering the best client experience. All tax returns are filed under Jalada, your firm name will not be displayed on the tax return.
If the information is needed for your compliance, we will provide the Names and PTIN of the signers of the tax return.
